Today's wedding news: Wedding planning 101

A Staten Island college is offering an eight-week, 40-hour course in wedding planning. The $895 class at Wagner College will meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 7:30 to 10 p.m., starting October 15.

The course will cover topics from gown, to music, to shower, to planner's role, to budget, to etiquette, to vendors, to how to work with the bride and relatives.

A good planner needs "an ability to deal with a wide variety of people; to multi-task; be quick on her feet; have a long fuse, a strong constitution, and a readiness and the flexibility to deal with the unexpected, including health and other emergency situations," said Elaine Deluca of Roslyn-based Exquisite Events New York, one of the two course teachers.
