How to preserve wedding flowers and mismatched bridesmaid dresses are all the rave

We are a bit behind in our reading, so here are some of the things we found noteworthy in the Spring 2010 issue of Contemporary Bride New York (we blogged separately about the magazine's grooming tips for grooms because they were hilarious and warranted their own entry. Click here to check the grooming tips out):
1. Be careful that you don’t overestimate how much money you will get as gifts for your wedding
2. Bring the invitation package to the post office for weighing to ensure that you put the proper amount of postage on the invitations
3. The following are increasing in popularity: Destination weddings, veils, chrome and metallic colors, cocktail receptions, vibrant colored flowers, mismatched bridesmaid dresses, eco-friendly wedding favors and the groom’s cake
4. To get fit for the wedding, start a diet and exercise regimen at least six to 12 months in advance of the big day
5. There are four ways to dry a bridal bouquet and flowers in order to preserve them: air drying, silica gel, cornmeal/borax and freeze drying
