Sheryl Paul, a bridal counselor and author of "The Conscious Bride," says in the video above that fear is natural when it comes wedding time, as in any transition period. Upon engagement, it's normal to feel scared because you're moving away from the familiar, you're losing your identity as a single person and all relationships are changing, she said.
"Fear will take hold of you unless you take hold of it," Paul said.
Since personal journaling can "entrench" the fears, Paul said instead brides should make a list of every fear and then challenge each one from "a truth-based place inside of you, the highest part of you, your connection to God... someone that's rooted in truth, even if you don't believe it."
Paul said: "It will start to alleviate your fear," although brides may have to reassure themselves on each point, 10 or even 20 times a day.
